SAUGUS — The Vasquez Canyon bridge is reopening today at 3 p.m., two days ahead of schedule. The bridge was destroyed two weeks ago by the Buckweed Fire, which burned nearly 38,000 acres and destroyed 32 structures. County work crews had to build two temporary 40-foot long bridges – one eastbound and one westbound – to avoid disrupting day-to-day activities for residents and commercial vehicles that use the bridge.
